Chasing Hammer - 1"
![]() Designed for use by silversmiths and for arts and crafts use, this hammer comes complete with handle. The head has a 1" diameter flat side for shaping, forming or flattening objects and a round end for making decorative patterns and designs. Many jewelry designs will not require a hammer, but some will. Most designs for making one piece earrings (earring body and ear wire in one wire component), will require the use of a chasing hammer and anvil to harden the rounded portion of the wire component that goes through the ear. Any chasing hammer with a smooth face will work well.
Tip: With chasing hammers, the edge of the hammer can possibly make marks of the surface of the wire you are hammering. For this reason, the larger the head on the hammer, the better. $9.95

Chasing Hammer - 1-1/8"
![]() Use either face of this hammer to harden and flatten wire. The flat face is larger than our other chasing hammer - 1-1/4" inch in diameter. The bigger face makes this a popular hammer with metalsmiths and beaders, since it facilitates the hammering of an entire wire design in one hit. This helps to flatten the design, but not mark it, avoiding a "hammered" finish. Use of the "peen" side of the hammer will result in riveting of the wire, providing a "hammered" finish. The forged head of the hammer is wedge-mounted onto the wooden handle.
