The Gemstar Straight 8 is an Australian made machine (stainless steel construction) with features requested by many gemcutters. The machine comes with new 1/3 hp motor (also Australian made), 6" thin notched diamond blade, 6 Diamond Pacific wheels (2 of the "Galaxy" and 4 of the "Nova"). There is a 2" spacing between each grinding wheel for easy access and a four inch clearance under the wheels. Also included is a 6" aluminium polishing disc. The machine is fitted out with a coolant and drainage system. There is a hinged top cover for easy cleaning and fully sealed bearings. It comes with a 2 speed pulley system on machine and motor. The space needed for the machine is approximately 1.1m long, 350mm high and 450 deep. There is a 4" clearance under all diamond wheels.

GEMMASTA GF5 Faceting Machine

The GF5 is precision machined with a compact aluminium base for strength, accuracy and stability. Base size is 50 x 31cm. The machine is powered by a extra large motor, with variable speed controller. The protractor is graduated in degrees with a degree splitter to attain 1/10°. Spring loaded trigger locks index wheel without any side movement.

Fine height adjustment is provided by micrometer device at top of mast (see additional photo above left). The cheater is operated by a knurled screw and easy to read graduations in 1/10mm. The handpiece dop arm pivots on two opposed angular contact bearings, which are adjustable for play, giving featherweight feel when cutting small facets.
